Here at Appalachia Service Project (ASP), we like to say that our goal is to make homes "warmer. safer. drier." for families in need. Our service area spans more than 30 communities in 5 states in Central Appalachia, where we hope to eradicate substandard housing. But ASP is more than just a home repair program--it's a relationship ministry with a little home repair on the side.
ASP offers volunteer opportunities throughout the year. We are looking for youth, college, and adult volunteers. Our minimum age requirement is 13 years old, and volunteers must have completed the 8th grade. Volunteers typically register as a group of at least 5-7 people, which is equal to one work crew. Larger groups can have multiple work crews. For every 5 youth members, we require 2 adults. All skill levels are welcome.
During our Year-Round Program (trips during September-May), groups can choose between 2-5 work days. The cost is $65/day/volunteer. This covers lodging, food, programming, and construction materials.
During our Summer Program (June-August), groups arrive on Sunday, work Monday-Friday, and leave on Saturday. The cost is $325/volunteer. This covers lodging, food, programming, and construction materials.
