During these uncertain times, how can we help?

Here at Appalachia Service Project (ASP), our goal is to make homes "warmer. safer. drier." for families in need. Our service area spans more than 25 communities in 5 states in Central Appalachia, where we hope to eradicate substandard housing. ASP is more than just a home repair program--it's a relationship ministry with a focus on transforming lives and building hope.
ASP offers volunteer opportunities throughout the year for youth, college students , and adult s . Our minimum age requirement is 13 years old, and volunteers must have completed the 8th grade for our traditional volunteer trips. We also offer junior high and middle school trips in the summer that allow volunteers who are 11-13 , as well as, summer trips for junior and senior high students to serve together! Volunteers typically register as a group of at least 5-7 people, which is equal to one work crew. Larger groups can have multiple work crews. For every 5 youth members, we require 2 adults age 19+. All skill levels are welcome.
For Year-Round Trips (during September-May), groups can choose between 2-5 workdays . The cost is $70/day/volunteer. This covers lodging, food, programming, and construction materials.
For Summer Trips (June-August), groups arrive on Sunday, work Monday-Friday, and leave on Saturday. The cost is $350/volunteer. This covers lodging, food, programming, and construction materials.

Appalachia Service Project is a Christian ministry, open to all people, that inspires hope and service through volunteer home repair in Central Appalachia. Our vision is that substandard housing in Central Appalachia will be eradicated and that everyone who comes into contact with this ministry will be transformed.
Appalachia Service Project (ASP) provides one of the most rewarding structured service opportunities in the nation -- bringing thousands of volunteers from around the country to rural Central Appalachia to repair homes for low-income families.
Our philosophy of service has remained the same since our founding: ASP encourages people to act responsibly in the face of human need .
By transforming faith into ASP service, volunteers respond to a specific need: housing. By putting aside their own needs and desires, ASP volunteers free themselves to share talent, love, and concern with the people of Appalachia and with one another. More important than construction know-how is a willingness to enter the communities and homes of Central Appalachia with sensitivity, concern, and love - accepting people right where they are and just the way they are. Come serve with ASP!
