Proud Haven will be a leading resource for shelter and support services that improve the quality of life for homeless lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer (LGBTQ+) youth as well as an advocate for the LGBTQ+ population as a whole.
Until we have our own shelter space, the GLCC has graciously offered us office space in order to do outreach. We are looking for volunteers to help staff the office and meet with youth. We will also be working with the GLCC to help support their efforts.
In addition, we need volunteers who have experience with grant writing, fundraising, and assisting with outreach opportunities as they come up. We also need people for the communications, finance, and fundraising committees. If you are interested in helping us achieve our goals, we'd be happy to have your assistance in any capacity.

Description
We are working to open the first homeless shelter geared toward LGBTQ youth in Pittsburgh. There is a real need for a safe and welcoming place as these youth are often preyed upon in shelters. We will provide a safe space while working with the youth to help them develop the skills they need to eventually live independently. We need to get the word out, advocate, raise funds, and secure a location.
