Volunteer Planting
Planting annuals at Pier 64

Hudson River Park’s Neighborhood Gardener Volunteers are instrumental to the Park community, contributing vital support, time, and efforts to maintain our 4-mile footprint.

Neighborhood Gardener Volunteers work alongside trained horticulture staff on weekdays to cultivate their green thumbs through fun tasks such as planting, pruning, weeding, mulching and more while learning about the flora and fauna of the West Side’s "backyard." With the Hudson River and the impressive cityscape as a backdrop, volunteers gain an immersive experience into the Park’s history, goals, and beautification and preservation efforts.

Opportunities are available weekday mornings (9:00-12:00) from April through November, and regular orientations and trainings are held to provide a comprehensive overview of our organization, build skills and techniques, and train new volunteers to the program. No experience is necessary- everyone from beginners to garden enthusiasts are welcome!
