The Global 2100 Project is seeking young adult research/writing volunteers around the world to conduct and guide a study that aims to secure a sustainable and prosperous future for our children and grandchildren. For the next 6 months (January - June), we will be focusing on one key global issue: FOOD SECURITY. The story of FOOD SECURITY is a curious one as technically global food production is sufficient to ensure that everyone has enough food, however this is not the case as millions continue to go without. We will explore the various factors surrounding global food production and distribution as well as the delicate balance that exists between agriculture and the ecosystem - amongst other areas.
As a researcher/writer, you will develop documents related to FOOD SECURITY for print and digital publication. You will identify relevant published resources, and use them to develop thoughtful answers to specific questions. You will develop report summaries, blogs, factsheets, and other documents as needed. These documents should readily engage your peers, and empower them to become advocates in the path towards a sustainable future for everyone. The documents that you produce will complement the other activities and events that are planned for the 6-month FOOD SECURITY Program.
The Global 2100 Project will be modeled after the Global 2000 Report for President Jimmy Carter, who has warmly endorsed the new global study. The original Global 2000 Report sold 1.5 million copies in nine languages and had an impact on thinking worldwide. The Global 2100 Study will be prepared by a team of thoughtful young adults supported by respected mentors from many disciplines. The Study will address matters of the global economy, resources, population and environment over the lifetime of a child born today. The Study will report on how young adults would manage human affairs on Earth if they were in charge right now.
The Global 2100 Project is organized by Our Task, a 100% voluntary, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is committed to environmental awareness and accountability and dedicated to informing young adults about what is happening to Earth. It was founded in 2006 and is based in Arlington, VA, USA. Our Task’s Mission is to transform young adults into global thinkers and empower them to lead the next generation in building a sustainable future. Dr. Gerald O. Barney, who directed the original Global 2000 Study and founded Our Task, will contribute to and support the Global 2100 Study. A wide range of other organizations is being invited to be collaborators on the Project.
