ORGANIZATION: KanCare Ombudsman Volunteer Program

KanCare as a service affects over 400,000 Kansans. This equates roughly to one in seven. Like any other insurance entity, it is often misunderstood and difficult to navigate. The system needed a check and balance- someone to assist in refining the process, someone to make contact with focus groups and individuals who access KanCare services. This led to the establishment of the KanCare Ombudsman's office, who is tasked with keeping KanCare accessible and efficient for 400,000 of our neighbors.

The KanCare Volunteer Ombudsman program has been active since November of 2016 and has fielded hundreds of calls, connecting many Kansans to services they desperately need. Training and hours are flexible, we ask 3-10 hours weekly, and are open Monday through Friday. Training is free, no experience necessary. Help us help Kansas!
