Interfaith Handshake

Objectives: To act as a liaison between patients and their families and other hospital staff.

Assignments:

  • Assist patients and their families with navigating hospital processes
  • Provide books and reading materials to patients
  • Provide support to the Patient Relations Department
  • Refer patient and family concerns to the Patient Relations staff, when appropriate

Education Level: Must have high school diploma or G.E.D. Some college-level educational experience preferred. Interns must be affiliated with an institution of learning and working towards a degree, certificate, or diploma.

Other Qualifications: Strong communication/people skills; Strong ability to multitask; Ability to interact with a diverse population; Ability to understand hospital policies and procedures

Interfaith Medical Center (IMC) is a not-for-profit community teaching hospital, dedicated to providing high quality healthcare services to the residents of Bedford-Stuyvesant, Crown Heights, and surrounding Brooklyn communities.
