Bring A Smile To A Senior-Visit With Them

ORGANIZATION: Heartland Hospice

  • 10 people are interested

One hour per week, is all that is needed to make a difference. Visit with a patient that needs a friendly, smiling face. Sit by the bedside or take patients to activities within the facility they live in. All of the patients that volunteers are being asked to visit have been given a prognosis of 6 months or less to live. Please help them have a more productive end of life. Some patients do not have family members that are able to visit with them and one visit a week from a volunteer makes such a difference to them. Volunteers make such a huge difference in our communities. Join us in our efforts to make a difference by visiting people near your home.

About Heartland Hospice

Location:

770 Independence Dr, Union, MO 63084, US

Mission Statement

At Heartland Hospice, formerly ProMedica Hospice, we understand the importance of time shared with family and friends, especially when facing the challenges of a life-limiting illness. Our clinicians are dedicated to offering the compassionate physical, spiritual and emotional care people need to make the most of these moments.

Description

Heartland Hospice has an ongoing need for Volunteers to visit with our patients diagnosed with life-limiting conditions whom have elected hospice care.

Hospice is a comprehensive, medically-directed, team-oriented program of care that focuses on symptom management, comfort, and providing support that meets physical, psychological, social and spiritual needs of patients and their families. Hospice volunteers provide extra love and care to patients and their families. For example, a hospice volunteer may provide support by staying with the patient so family members can take a break, or they can run an errand for the patient, read scripture, play or sing a patient’s favorite song, hold the patient’s hand, and provide companionship to help reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness.

Heartland Hospice Volunteers truly make a difference in the lives of others!
