Events & Marketing Assistant Reports to MBL Chair and Marketing/PR Chair

About you and this position

You are organized and detail‐oriented, a good communicator, comfortable working in an open

environment and shifting between tasks quickly, and will present a welcoming atmosphere for people

who interact with us online, over the phone and in-person.

While you don’t need to be an expert on bike gear or a speedy high‐mileage rider, you should be

committed to creating the conditions that enable people of all ages and abilities to ride bicycles. You will

be able to relate effectively to people of diverse backgrounds and levels of biking experience.

Primary purpose:

Assist in making events, marketing, and operations run smoothly. Maintain and enhance member records. Coordinate events. Maintain social media presence following communications plan/calendar. Update online content.

EVENTS

  • Assist in planning, and follow‐up special events and smaller events
  • Assist in preparing for events, planning and executing details, track RSVPs, ensure materials/signage/etc. are on hand, evaluate and report on outcomes, support follow‐up activities as needed
  • Maintain online calendar and internal planning calendar, identify promotional and media opportunities, identify and help resolve potential conflicts between events in scheduling
  • Distribute promotional materials to organizers of external events as requested and in proactive outreach, e.g., rack cards to bike shops

Manage event logistics, including: securing venues, recruiting and training volunteers, managing registration and promotion plans, answering member questions, ensuring events stay within budget, and managing set up and break down,

SOCIAL MEDIA/WEBSITE

  • Prepare social media posts per communications plan to publicize events, blog posts, retail, and web content
  • Respond to questions/comments received online and through social media accounts or refer to other staff as appropriate
  • Compile FAQs based on inquiries received via phone, email, social media, and in‐person contacts; work volunteers to provide timely answers and build online knowledge base
  • Maintain/update web pages as assigned
