The Volunteer Communications Specialist helps to implement Innovative Solutions for Disadvantage & Disability’s (ISDD) communications and social media strategies. ISDD was founded in 2004 to promote health equity among children living in social and economic disadvantage with or at risk for disability. This mission is accomplished through research, education, and community service and support programs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Writes newsletter articles and press releases
- Uses desk top publishing to create e-newsletters and collateral pieces (brochures, fact sheets, etc.) for print and electronic distribution
- Uses Mail Chimp to design engaging and informative email campaigns
- Manages the email marketing list
- Creates website copy
- Creates social media posts at least weekly
- Prepares status reports on social media efforts
- Conducts media outreach, delivers press releases and media relations content
- Creates info and media press kits
PREFFERED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
- Strong written communication skills, including knowledge of AP style
- Detail oriented with strong organizational ability
- Proficient with Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook and Publisher
- Familiarity with social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter & LinkedIn
- Experience with email marketing best practices. Mail Chimp experience a plus
- Detail oriented with strong organizational ability
REQUIREMENTS
Must have a laptop with wireless networking capability.
Hours
Flexible, M-F 6:30 am - 4:30 pm, Some work could be accomplished virtually.

The mission of Innovative Solutions for Disadvantage & Disability is to empower, educate and equip kinship caregivers of disadvantaged relative children in Metro Atlanta.
Description
Project GRANDD is the largest kinship caregiver program in the the Atlanta Metro Area, the only program serving the entire metro area and the only caregiver program in Georgia providing supportive services to grandparents raising grandchildren with developmental disabilities, chronic health conditions and learning and behavior disorders. Project GRANDD provides support groups, case management, training, education and referrals to support stable, safe and loving families. All services are provided at no charge.
