Must have a positive attitude and be willing to learn about the Puget Sound Basin, both upland and the marine environment.
A Docent greets visitors as they enter the front door, answers questions, and helps visitors interact with marine life in the tidepool tank.
Other tasks also include preparing food for and feeding the animals, cleaning plexiglass and glass surfaces, talking with visitors, tracking visitor counts, operating the DVD player, working with preschool groups, and other miscellaneous tasks around the Center.
Must be able to work in a team environment and to follow specific directions and show initiative to further the Center’s goal of education to the general public. Continue to self-educate and share the information with volunteers and visitors.

Mission Statement
Promote lifelong learning and appreciation for the marine environment and underwater technology by enhancing science education with hands on learning and conservsation.
Description
The SEA Discovery Center is a hands-on facility. We don’t believe in "do not touch". Our tidepool touch tank allows you to interact with most of the animals you will find on your next Puget Sound beach walk. You can get up close and personal with several species of sea star, anemone, urchin, crab, shrimp, even a sea cucumber and other surprises!
Experience over 100 species of marine plants and animals found in the Puget Sound. The center’s combination of our touch tank, theater, and uniquely designed aquariums work together to help you understand the nature of our inland waterways.
The SEA Discovery Center is supported and operated by Western Washington University. Our main focus is to promote lifelong learning and appreciation for the local marine environment by providing science education with hands-on learning and conservation.
We welcome visitors of all ages to learn more about the creatures living in the waters that surround us.
