PLACEMENT PURPOSE
Responsibilities: 1. Receives telephone calls and refers them to the appropriate individuals or department. 2. Takes and transcribes messages to ensure prompt transmission to the appropriate party. 3. Greets visitors and directs them to the appropriate individual. Will ensure that a visitor’s log is maintained and issue visitor’s badges. 4. Provides general information about the organization to outside callers (e.g., applicants and vendors). 5. Provides support to other departments as directed i.e., facing, sorting and routing mail, maintaining mailing lists and performing other clerical tasks). 6. Trains relief receptionists. 7. It is the responsibility of all Red Cross workforce members to recruit, train and work with volunteers and to treat all clients, volunteers, guests, and other employees in a courteous and respectful manner at all times while maintaining a cooperative atmosphere for everyone. 8. Carries out any additional assignments required to fulfill the Mission of the American Red Cross. Time Commitment: 2-20 hours per week Qualifications: Education: High School or equivalent. Minimum 6 months of work experience in a professional office environment, including administrative volunteer experience. Knowledge of basic office machines and switchboard operator’s experience.
