Project Independence - non medical assistance to seniors

Project Independence is a volunteer based program to give additional support to seniors while recuperating from an illness or after release from a hospitalization. Clients are referred to Project Independence for assistance with transportation, companionship, light housekeeping and errands. The program lasts for 6-8 weeks. Volunteers can spend up to 5 hours per week assisting the client. This program is offered to seniors 60+ years within Collin County. The Wellness Center is a multidisciplinarity nonprofit agency which provides preventive health services and social services to the aging population in Collin County. Services include nursing, information and referral, transportation, counseling, support groups and volunteer assistance. The goal of the agency to to promote well being and independence.
