Hopalong Animal Rescue, a 501cs nonprofit, is seeking an unpaid intern in our Oakland office to work closely with our Canine Program Manager and Director of Volunteer Services. We rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome shelter animals from around the Bay Area, and serve 1000 animals a year. We are looking for an intern interested in learning about shelter rescue, medicine, foster and adoption programs. Interns should be prepared to get dirty and be hands on. We are seeking someone who is organized, good with people, comfortable handling animals, can work well under pressure and has a clean driver’s license, as driving will be needed.

Interns need to be available two-three days per week.

Please send resumes AND schedule availability to lanie@hopalong.org. No phone calls please. Positions start Summer 2021, dates flexible.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Mission Statement

Hopalong Animal Rescue is a non-profit organization whose mission is to eliminate the euthanasia of cats and dogs through rescue, spay/neuter and education programs. Hopalong could not reach our goal of rescuing 1000 animals a year without our amazing volunteers. We currently have more than 475 volunteers making sure that our furry companions reach their forever homes.

Description

The animals taken into Hopalong's program are fostered in a home environment, spayed or neutered and vaccinated. The animals are evaluated for temperament and many receive basic training in order to make them better life partners for the people that will ultimately take them home.

Hopalong applies a multifaceted approach to finding permanent, stable and loving homes for animals. Dogs and cats are featured on Hopalong's website, accompanied by information on the size, temperament and needs of each pet. People seeking a companion animal may also find a pet through Hopalong's' In-store Cat Adoption program and their community-based Mobile Adoptions held each weekend. Hopalong prides itself in being accessible and responsive to the community. As part of this, we have staff and volunteers available to assist new pet owners with behavioral advice and post adoption support.

We have a wide variety of volunteer opportunities including fostering cats, dogs, kittens and puppies, on-site animal care and facilities support, administrative/office support, pet transporting, and adoption/weekend event volunteers. See our website at www.hopalong.org for more information.
