ORGANIZATION: American Cetacean Society - SF Bay Chapter

  • 2 people are interested

Hello

The SF Bay chapter of the American Cetacean Society is growing! Are you looking for a creative volunteer opportunity that will make a difference to youth, adults, the environment, research, and cetaceans? If so, then come and join us!

The Events Volunteer Coordinator plays a key role in growing the organization’s capacity to develop and motivate teams of volunteers with a "many hands make light work" philosophy, and fulfilling service requests within the San Francisco Bay Area cetacean- and marine-sciences community.

The Events Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the chapter’s pool of volunteers and assigning volunteers to projects and events.

A note about location: Although most communication can happen through remote channels, ideal candidates will reside in the San Francisco Bay Area in order to attend meetings, as needed.

We do educational outreach tabling at three key events a year. Earth Day (usuallyPacifica, but can be other locations), WCN Expo in SF, and the BASF Discovery Days at AT&T park, SF. The Events coordinator would lineup a few volunteers for each of these events. The coodinator usually participates at these events, but this is optional if the volunteers are trained in setup, procedures, and verbage. The event coordinator is responsible for storing all educational materials and setting up the table and breaking down at the end of the event (or the volunteers that are participating). Many other educational outreach tabling events are possible if one wishes to attend.

If you're interested in making a tremendous impact, while having fun and learning more about the Bay Area's amazing marine environment, please e-mail us at acs.sfbay@gmail.com for more information.

Thank You!
