Help people use their EBT at Central Market!

Want to help families eat more fruits and vegetables? Are you passionate about food justice and increasing access to healthy food? As an Alchemist CDC Support Volunteer, you will help fellow Sacramentans use their CalFresh benefits (formerly known as food stamps) at the Promenade Farmers' Market.

Duties for the Support Volunteer include setting up the market equipment, processing EBT cards, distributing scrip, and collecting scrip from the vendors (farmers). The market runs from 8:00am-12:00pm and the Support Volunteer shift is from 10:00am to about 12:00pm. You’ll be working with an experienced volunteer or staff member at the booth during the most active part of the market to ensure a great experience for the CalFresh recipients and farmers.

Alchemist volunteers have a direct and immediate impact on their community! They spend the morning at the farmers’ market, helping to increase local food access, and have fun doing it!

All volunteers receive a hands-on training and we ask that you make a commitment to volunteer at four (4) market days over the first three months. Unsure if you want to commit? Contact our Volunteer Coordinator to shadow with an experienced staff or volunteer at the market.

If you want to volunteer but Saturdays or the location don’t work for you, please see our other VolunteerMatch listings for other markets all week long across the Sacramento region.
