Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: Smithsonian Institution National Air and Space Museum: Family Days

  • 41 people are interested

This annual event celebrates the contributions of Latinos to aviation and space exploration. Learn about early aviators from the last century who took great risks flying the first planes and breaking records. Meet current Hispanic scientists and engineers. Many of the activities and presentations are available in English and Spanish.

Family Day volunteers help by staffing activity stations. Our activities are designed to reinforce the day’s theme and help visitors explore Museum’s collection. Volunteers assist visitors in activities that range from arts and crafts to more complex STEM related activity. For example, volunteers will help visitors make "Jet Packs", turning recyclables into their vision of a vehicle for space travel, and much more. Our goal is to spark interest in lifelong learning about aviation and space exploration.
