Volunteers are vital to feeding hungry neighbors in the Community. NACE Food Shelf rescues useable food from local grocery stores and Costco and redistributes it, alleviating hunger and also reducing food waste.

Due to the 4th of July holiday, volunteer drivers are needed the week of July 8th through July 11th to rescue fruits and vegetables from Costco in Coon Rapids and Festival in Andover and bring it back to the warehouse. Shifts during this week are generally between 2-3 hours each. You choose the day of the week that is most convenient for you.

If you are unable to help during this week, consider these on-going opportunities at NACE:

  • Sort food donations/rescued produce on Tuesdays at 1:30 PM or Wednesdays at 10:30 AM. Shifts are generally 2-3 hours. You choose either Tuesdays or Wednesdays to help.
  • Re-stock food shelf items
  • Assist clients with choosing which items they need

Volunteers enroll by completing a skills and interests checklist and these are matched to community needs. From the matches, the volunteer selects a volunteer job that is meaningful and fits. Become one of nearly a half million RSVP volunteers across the country who are making a difference in their community.
