Reading Partners seeks volunteers to be a part of our tutoring program in the 2015-16 school year. Volunteer tutors help keep struggling young readers on a path of achievement in literacy skills.

Reading Partners empowers you to become an effective tutor by matching you with a single student and providing a structured, easy-to-use curriculum and lots of support. Your time and passion can help a child strengthen their reading skills, build confidence, and discover a passion for reading.

Your student is waiting. Over the past decade, volunteers like you have helped more than 10,000 students become confident readers by using the Reading Partners curriculum. Our volunteer tutors make a huge impact in the lives of their reading partners. By sharing their passion and knowledge, tutors become mentors, friends, and heroes to their students.

Tutoring one-on-one with a child is a fun, powerful way to help a student succeed in reading and life. No prior experience necessary to make a difference!

What:Help a struggling reader succeed by becoming a reading partner.

When: 1 hour a week, although we always welcome more! Tentative start date of September 15. Volunteer hours are flexible, Monday - Thursday from 9 am - 5 pm.

Tutoring has ended for the current school year, but we look forward to having you join us next fall! A member of our team will be in touch in August to discuss our timeline and get you started on next steps for becoming a tutor in the 2015-16 school year.

In the meantime, we have some great summer trainings planned where you can learn more about our program and meet some of our staff members. We encourage you to come to one of the events listed below.

Thursday, June 18 from 1 -2 pm at the DCPS office (1200 First St NE)
Wednesday, June 24 from 5:30 - 6:30 pm at the Reading Partners office (1224 M St NW)
Friday, June 26 from 8 - 9 am at the DCPS office (1200 First St NE)
Tuesday, July 21 from 1 -2 pm at the DCPS office (1200 First St NE)
Wednesday, July 22 from 1 - 2 pm at the Reading Partners office (1224 M St NW)
Thursday, July 23 from 5:30 - 6:30 pm at the Reading Partners office (1224 M St NW)
Tuesday, August 4 from 8 - 9 am at the DCPS office (1200 First St NE)
