AIDS Services of Austin

Be our helping hands in the ASA Helping Hands Food Bank! Good nutrition has long been recognized as an important tool for managing HIV/AIDS. We offer a menu of choices rather than a pre-selected box of food. The selection includes fruits and vegetables, dairy products, frozen meats and protein sources, several vegetarian options, and some personal hygiene and household items. Volunteers help sort and package food items, and assist clients with choosing items. Join us today!

Mission Statement

To enhance the health and well-being of the community and people affected by HIV and AIDS.

As we grew to become the largest AIDS Services Organization (ASO) in Central Texas, we pioneered new treatments, implemented cutting-edge prevention programs, influenced local decision-makers, and maintained a visionary and sustainable approach to the future. Through our work, we have been stewards of Austin’s resources, keeping people out of emergency rooms, providing housing, and increasing access to emergency resources. ASA also founded several of Austin’s first and only assistance programs, such as the Jack Sansing Dental Clinic, the Capital Area AIDS Legal Project, and the Octopus Club fundraising model.

As ASA’s ventures forward with the community, we hope to define our journey with these goals:

  1. Paving the way: helping people navigate the maze of social and medical services to get the care and knowledge they need to live with HIV.
  2. Expanding testing: working with community groups through special initiatives to ensure that people undergoing this highly personal and confidential experience can maintain their health and well-being.
  3. Fighting indifference (and stigma): supporting our clients through obstacles and challenges while educating the community to reduce indifference fueled by stereotypes, fear, beliefs, and stigma. Indifference affects the spread of HIV/AIDS and other STDs more than any other factor.

We'll work with your schedule.
