The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum is a nonprofit educational organization that depends largely on volunteers for its continued operation and success. We invite your participation and support in museum activities through a PTM membership.

Members of Pennsylvania Trolley Museum feel a strong responsibility to preserve this part of Americana for future generations. We have strived to assemble a representative collection of the types of streetcars, interurbans, and special purpose equipment that have served the people of our region since the earliest street railways.

Join the shop crew in the restoration and maintenance of our antique trolley car collection! We are always looking for skilled individuals who have a passion for restoration and maintenance work.

**Please be advised that all volunteers must be a minimum 14 years of age. Those who are 14 & 15 years old must be accompanied by legal parent / guardian. All volunteers of age of majority must provide their PA Clearances per PA State Law**

About Pennsylvania Trolley Museum

Location:

1 Museum Road, Washington, PA 15301, US

Mission Statement

The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum's mission is to communicate the story of Pennsylvania's Trolley Era to a diverse audience through the preservation, interpretation, and use of its collection of electric railway and railroad equipment, associated artifacts and photo/document archives, and to ensure that its visitors have an enjoyable and rewarding educational experience.

Description

The Pennsylvania Trolley Museum has evolved over the past 50 years from a handful of volunteers and a few trolleys to over 600 members and approximately 50 trolleys preserved at its museum in Washington, Pennsylvania. Visitors get a unique opportunity to actually experience the Trolley Era first hand by riding the Museum's beautifully restored streetcars for a scenic four-mile ride.

At our museum, volunteers of all ages work to preserve and share transportation history through trolley operation, educational tours, and maintenance and restoration work with our collections. We are also looking for volunteers with a variety of interests to help with special events and a wide range of museum operations. Anyone with a passion for trolleys, regional history, or simply serving one's community is welcome to join us!
