Interested in planning a one-time volunteering event for your employees/coworkers? Does your team have a passion for protecting native habitats and the plants and animals that depend on them? Then bring your group and come visit the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay Wildlife Refuge in Alviso (North San Jose) for a restoration event!
Start with a short tour focusing on the history of the refuge and our restoration projects, then spend 1-2 hours planting native plants or pulling weeds in our native plants garden.
Maximum group size is capped at 25 volunteers.

The mission of the Don Edwards San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuge is to work with diverse urban communities to inspire stewardship through educational and inclusive visitor engagement, while protecting and restoring a resilient bayland ecosystem that benefits both wildlife and people. The San Francisco Bay Wildlife Society is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) Friends group, authorized by Congress to support the education, interpretation, and research activities of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. The San Francisco Bay Wildlife Society seeks to nurture in the public a sense of understanding, appreciation, and stewardship of the San Francisco Bay National Wildlife Refuges, their natural and cultural history, and to conserve, preserve, and restore bay lands as essential wildlife habitat.
Description
From its start in 1903, the National Wildlife Refuge System has owed its very existence to concerned citizens eager to protect America's natural resources.
More than 200 nonprofit Refuge Friends organizations support national wildlife refuges. Some work with a single refuge, some for a refuge complex or an entire state. Friends members are crucial to conserving and protecting our nation’s wildlife and teaching millions of Americans that their actions today determine the conservation legacy of tomorrow.
More than 42,000 people volunteer their time and ideas each year to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Whether they work on the land, in a visitor center or with youth, they contribute to the conservation mission that reaches back more than a century.
