ADVOCAP's RSVP Senior Friends Program needs your help. We match a caring volunteer with someone age 65+ who is lonely and looking to increase interactions with people. The volunteer will visit on a regular basis thereby enabling seniors to remain independent as long as possible and to lessen the affects of isolation. Most of the seniors in this program are home bound living independently or in assisted living. The volunteer acts as a "friendly neighbor" who checks in with the senior and spends some time with them. There is training available for the volunteer. We are asking for a 4 hour a month commitment but the times are flexible and determined by the volunteer and the senior.

Description

MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR COMMUNITY!

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) provides opportunities for people 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, day care centers, police departments, hospitals and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental insurance while on duty, pre-service orientation, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.
