ADVOCAP's RSVP Senior Friends Program needs your help!
We match a caring volunteer with an individual 65+ and/or with disabilities who is lonely and looking to increase interactions with people. The volunteer will visit/call on a regular basis enabling the participant to remain independent as long as possible, and to lessen the affects of isolation. Most of the participants in this program are home bound living independently or in assisted living. The volunteer acts as a "friendly neighbor" who checks in with the participant and spends some time with them. Training is provided. We are asking for a 4 hour a month commitment but the times are flexible and determined by the volunteer and the participant.

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) provides opportunities for individuals age 55 and over to make a difference in their community through volunteer service. RSVP volunteers choose when, where and how long they would like to serve at schools, day care centers, police departments, hospitals and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. RSVP offers maximum flexibility and choice to its volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of older Americans with opportunities to help solve community problems and offers supplemental insurance while they serve. There is a pre-service orientation, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where volunteers are placed.
