Planet Rehab is seeking a Social Media FACEBOOK marketer to assist us with growing our Facebook accounts and develop a marketing visibility strategy for the organization. In addition to caring for the 350 Animals in the Planet Rehab Animal Sanctuary, we are getting ready to launch our Costa Rica Endangered Species Initiative to help breed species at risk of extinction. In order to garner the support, both financial and otherwise, we must drastically not only grow our social media presence, but come up with a solid plan to turn Facebook Likes into Real Support. This is a great opportunity for interns but not limited to interns.

Planet Rehab is an environmental nonprofit with the mission of protecting the environment by nurturing the relationship between humanity and nature. Its Animal Sanctuary is home to more than 350 rescued and donated animals. Planet Rehab has three main goals: environmental education, habitat protection, and species propagation. Responsibilities:

• Keep abreast of events and activities occurring at Planet Rehab
• Identify relevant articles, campaigns, and current events to broadcast on social media or blog
• Manage the organization’s social media accounts (i.e., Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram)
• Analyze and report on social media and website analytics (e.g., through Google Analytics)
• Develop a strategy to increase Planet Rehab’s social media and online presence and ultimately generate sponsorship potential

Qualifications:

• Current student or graduate of a Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Environmental Science, or related discipline
• Excellent written communication skills
• Passion for the environment
• Previous blogging/social media experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Awareness of current trends in social media and blogging
• Familiarity with HootSuite
• Familiarity with Wordpress or other blogging software
• Experience with Google Analytics is preferred

Time Commitment:

10-15 hours/week for a minimum of 3 months. Duration can be adjusted according to the intern’s and Planet Rehab’s needs. Schedule is flexible and will be set at the beginning of the internship.

Benefits:

This internship will provide the opportunity to learn the logistics of nonprofit operations and develop skills in communications, marketing, and publicity. Interns will have the opportunity to build their portfolio and gain professional experience strategizing marketing/communications visibility for a nonprofit organization.

Compensation:

This is an unpaid internship. College credit may be offered on request.
