Can you pet sit a dog or cat for a couple of days or up to a week?
Mountaineers For Mutts
Do you love dogs or cats? We are seeking volunteers who can pet sit a dog or cat in your home while it awaits vetting and transport. Typical sitting time is a few days up to one week, depending on how long it takes us to get a vetting appointment and work out transport logistics.
You must be age 21 or older to apply. If still living with your parents, they must be involved in the application process.
Fostering dogs or cats: from a few days to a week, short term fosters needed! We'll provide food, crates, and vet care. You provide a safe/secure environment where they can de-stress from shelter life while they await vetting and transport to rescue or recover from injury/surgery.
Must be comfortable handling dogs or cats (whichever you choose to foster). Huge plus but not mandatory if you are comfortable bathing dogs, clipping nails, crate training, housebreaking training, starting basic obedience training using positive motivation methods like Victoria Stillwell (see her videos on youtube).
Typically you'll be asked to pick the pet up at a Morgantown vet office, and bring the pet to Morgantown to meet transports on Saturday mornings. If you can't we can work with you.
We are looking for volunteers who want to become actively involved in the rescue.
Very rewarding work for animal-loving retirees! We do have low-key and senior dogs needing foster homes. Fenced yard preferred if you are unable to regularly leash-walk for exercise.
