ORGANIZATION: American Red Cross - Wisconsin Region

PLACEMENT PURPOSE
Babysitter's Training Instructors educate young people, ages 11-14, to be safe, responsible babysitters for their neighborhoods and community. Skills you would teach include leadership, accident prevention, being a role model, bottling/feeding, diapering, playing, and more. The position is also responsible for evaluating class participants and submitting results/records to the Training Specialist. Candidates for this position must be at least 16 years of age, comfortable with public speaking and class instruction, and have basic knowledge of TV/DVD/Projector systems.

OPEN TIME DAYS

Instruct a minimum of 2 classes each year (8 hour shift).⦆

Most classes on Saturdays and Sundays during school year.⦆ Many daytime classes during summer months and school breaks.

REQUIRED TRAINING

Orientation to American Red Cross.

Babysitting Instructor Course (9.5 hours) or Babysitter’s Training Instructor Bridge Course (5 hours) if already a certified Lay Responder First Aid and CPR/AED Instructor.

Complete 1-2 Co-Teaching Assignments.

On-going support and updates provided by Training Specialist.
