Become a Senior Health and Wellness Coach!
When older adults lose their ability to drive and their sense of independence, isolation and loneliness moves in. Long term-loneliness is associated with the development of depression.
Thus JFS visitation programs core is to empower older adults by providing companionship, socio-emotional support, access to resources and the community. Older adults are matched with a peer (a volunteer) who assists them with socialization, such as engaging them in conversation, neighborhood walks, games, exercise, arts, shopping, gardening, and many more activities happening in JFS senior centers. Volunteers are vital to these programs, working hard to implement the values of the program and helping those in need.
Jewish Family Service of Los Angeles (JFSLA) is seeking individuals ages 55 and older to volunteer offering peer companion services to older adults in the community.
As a Health and Wellness Coach you will enhance the lives of seniors by:
- Spending quality time doing activities you both enjoy
- Accompanying seniors on shopping trips, doctor's appoinments, or on social outings
- Monitoring their well-being, identifying changing needs, and easing access to community resources
Senior Health and Wellness Coaches will benefit from:
- Professional training to develop valuable skill sets
- Creating a more meaningful retirement

Description
Older Adult Services
JFS provides a comprehensive array of services for older adults, with the goal of helping them remain healthy, active and independent in their own communities. Our local neighborhood centers offer friendly, easy access throughout Los Angeles County. All of our community-based care services are designed to enable seniors to live in the least restrictive environment possible. Programs include essential mental health services, a special program for residents of Beverly Hills, transportation, fitness activities, community dining, home delivered meals, care management, in-home assessments, recreational activities and special services for Survivors of the Holocaust.
