The duration of the volunteer opportunity lasts from September 1, 2019 through the screening of the SFC scheduled for March 2020. You can work from home, and we estimate an average of 5-8 hours per per week woudl be the time commitment and most of the work would be done on email and GoogleDocs.

We invite you to join us in engaging the next generation of ocean lovers and conservationists to tell their story about the ocean while developing their skills and interests in the art of filmmaking.

Mission Statement

The mission of the International Ocean Film Festival is to be the premier global platform for ocean literacy and education through independent film.

Description

The International Ocean Film Festival (IOFF), is the first and largest film festival focused on the ocean in the world.

As a year-round ocean conservation organization the IOFF produces a multipole day in person film and lecture event that promotes awareness around the health of our oceans, and call to actions to protect it. Film programs include award winning independent films of all genres, on stage discussions with filmmakers and content experts, creating a unique public forum on the environmental, social, and cultural importance of the ocean's ecosystems, habitats and its resources. The IOFF has five main education initiatives to fulfill its mission:

  • Global Online Student Ocean Film Program
  • Free Student Ocean Film Field Trips
  • International Student Film Competition
  • International Traveling Program
  • Annual Ocean Film Festival

IOFF will be celebrating it's 21st Anniversary on April 13-14, 2024 at Cowell Theater at Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture in San Francisco, CA. With an expected attendance of 3,000 people, the IOFF serves as a beacon of hope and conversation for ocean lovers of all ages.
