Our new exhibit promises to awe and inspire visitors of all ages, and we want you to be at the forefront of this adventure! Whether you prefer interacting with visitors or artifacts, we offer numerous fun and fulfilling ways to volunteer. To apply please visit the Museum of Idaho’s website at museumofidaho.org.
- Monday - Saturday:
- 10 AM - 2 PM, OR
- 2 PM - 6 PM
- Sunday:
- 1 PM - 5 PM
Requirements: MOI volunteers must be 16 or older, complete an interview, and be willing to pass a background check. Expectations include attending all required trainings and committing to 3-4 hours per week or a special schedule arranged with the Volunteer Coordinator.
Volunteer positions: Note: all positions require training, and some require more than others.
- Gallery Attendants: watch for the safety of visitors and museum property in a specific area. Help visitors navigate to different areas of the museum as desired
- Docents: interact with visitors using hands-on, interactive materials at specific stations
- Safety and Security: rove throughout the building and watch for the safety of visitors and artifacts
- Tour Guide Docent: Lead scheduled tour groups in addition to docent work
- Education: Support educational programs, staff the Discovery Room, and assist the Director of Education.

Description
The Museum of Idaho, located in downtown Idaho Falls, is the Gem State’s largest history and science center, with significant Idaho collections, high-profile traveling exhibits, and a wide array of educational programs and fun events for young and old.
The Museum of Idaho is dedicated to the development and support of programs, classes, exhibits and other educational activities as well as collaborations with local educators and other organizations (both private and public) with similar goals to enhance existing educational efforts.
