Ascend Hospice

Ascend Hospice in Virginia is looking for talented, caring, and creative needleworkers to provide comfort blankets, tactile cloths, & other homemade items for terminally ill clients in the Richmond area through our dementia support and bereavement programs. Qualified volunteer applicants will join a multidisciplinary team, receive training and supervision, and make a difference during an important chapter in peoples' lives. Woven and/or sewn items can provide special comfort and stimulation to people at the end of life, particularly those impacted by dementia. They can also become beautiful keepsakes for families facing grief and loss.

If you are looking for a way to share your time, unique talents, and compassion with those in need, this is a great opportunity to make a lasting impact. We can provide assistance with materials.

We would love to work with you!!!

Description

Ascend Hospice is a for-profit hospice company with a growing presence in the greater Richmond area of central Virginia. We are dedicated to providing compassionate care and services to terminally ill clients and their families in their homes and residence facilities. We seek to care for the whole person - mind, body, and spirit. To that end, we provide support services (social work, chaplaincy, etc.) and alternative therapies (aroma, pet, massage, etc.), in addition to quality medical care. We believe that comfort and compassion should be available to those who have moved beyond curative medicine. Our goal is to preserve dignity and emphasize the importance of quality of life as we seek to help create a meaningful final chapter in the lives of our clients and their families.
