ORGANIZATION: Maggie's Place

  • 5 people are interested

Maggie's Place provides houses of hospitality and ongoing support to help pregnant and parenting women in need reach their goals, and welcomes them into a community filled with love and dignity.

Following Catholic social teaching, we recognize that we are responsible to and for one another. This foundation is at the core of implementing our mission and running our homes.

Maggie's Place is seeking women who are willing to sacrifice a year of their lives to the service of our mothers and their children. Full-time, live-in volunteers called MissionCorps members provide non-professional case management to the moms by helping them set personal goals, providing emotional support, accountability, helping them learn about life skills such as budgeting, community resources, transitional housing and child care programs. Maggie's Place operates three homes in the Greater Phoenix, AZ area, as well as one in Cleveland, OH.

We are seeking female applicants 21+ years who are interested in an August 2016 or January 2017 start date. For more information or if you would like to apply, please contact Amanda Ayala, Director of MissionCorps at missioncorps@maggiesplace.org.

Mission Statement

Maggie’s Place provides life-changing programs and services for pregnant and parenting women and their children by offering a warm and welcoming community, a safe place to live and learn, and on-going services to help them become self-sufficient.

Description

Maggie's Place has four homes and a transitional apartment complex in which we serve homeless, pregnant women and their babies in Arizona. Mothers in need join the community anytime throughout their pregnancy and can stay in the maternity home until their child is nine months old.

Maggie’s Place offers a caring support system, and source of hope to homeless women and their children during the critical times of pregnancy and following birth. We provide access to a nurturing and stable home environment, nutritious food, baby supplies, medical care, weekly therapeutic counseling, in-house presentations, staff mentoring, and other specialized programs (mentoring, addiction recovery, employment, etc).

Our Family Resource Center provides a safe place where all Maggie’s Place Moms and their children come to a community of hope and resilience with community resources and services. Services include individual and group counseling, job training programs, financial literacy education, parenting classes, infant and child safety classes, educational and enrichment classes for children, family coaching, events for families, social connections, support groups, and much more.

Maggie's Place operates homes in metropolitan Phoenix and in Cleveland, Ohio, and also runs a social enterprise store, Maggie's Thrift, in downtown Phoenix.
