Want to make a difference?

Provide interactive nutrition training geared toward children, teens, adults, and/or seniors. Each week, highlight a different theme, such as food budgeting; meal planning; making healthy choices; eating together as a family; the benefits of fruits and vegetables and how to select, store, and wash them; the importance of breakfast and healthy snacking; and reading labels.

Guess what?! There are even more great opportunities for volunteers 55 and older in all 5 boroughs!

RSVP works with over 250 other partner organizations as well. If this opportunity is not for you, we can help you find another that is. Attend one of our Learn and Link events or schedule a placement interview today!

**Please note: all RSVP volunteer opportunities are for individuals 55 and older; also, most assignments are with our partners located across the City**

Mission Statement

The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) was started in 1966 by the Community Service Society (CSS), an over 170-year-old nonprofit agency. CSS's mission is to identify problems which create a permanent poverty class in New York City, and to advocate the systemic changes required to eliminate such problems. CSS will focus on enabling, empowering and promoting opportunities for poor families and individuals to develop their full potential, to contribute to society, and to realize social, economic and political opportunities.

Description

RSVP matches adults 55 and older with meaningful volunteer opportunities at New York City nonprofits. With more than 2,300 volunteers, RSVP in New York City is one of the largest senior volunteer programs in the nation. There are over 600 RSVPs which operate nationally and many that do so internationally. We match volunteers on the basis of interests and abilities, community needs, geographic convenience, and experience.
