The Hamster Team Leader assists the Hamster Coordinator by supervising Fosters and overseeing the care of hamsters under their direction. The Hamster Team Leader has a hands-on approach with the hamsters and is in direct contact with the shelters, adopters and fosters, and works through the adoption process with potential adopters and foster homes. The Team Leader is present at all adoptions including bondings; they can oversee or appoint an approved designee to perform the duties. Additional duties include follow-up inquiries with adoptive families, maintaining contact with local shelters to monitor the greatest need and depositing checks when needed. May be required to do vet runs and attend meetings with the Hamster Coordinator.
The Hamster Team Leader reports income, expenses, statistics and news articles to the Hamster Coordinator, who then compiles the corresponding reports. The Team Leader is responsible for keeping Petfinder posts up to date. The Team Leader may also be involved in training new Team Members and may be called upon to attend information sessions to help educate the public on small animal care.
- Fostering of animals is required on an as-needed basis.
- Building of cages for purchase by adoptees.
- Any other duties necessary for the successful operation of the team. The time commitment for a Team Leader will vary depending on the animal needs currently in the rescue and size of the Animal Team. Estimated time commitment is approximately 7-10 hours per week.

The mission of Small Angels Rescue Inc. is to rescue rehabilitate and rehome gerbils, guinea pigs, hamsters, mice and rats. These animals are worthy of respectful and compassionate treatment. We advocate and facilitate responsible animal care and companionship.
Description
Small Angels Rescue is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, no-kill, all-volunteer organization based in Frederick, MD. Small Angels works with animal shelters and adopters throughout the greater Washington, D.C., metropolitan region and in neighboring states such as Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia. Small Angels works primarily with kill or open admission shelters where the animals could be euthanized. We use a network of foster homes to care for the animals until they find their adoptive homes. Small Angels has no paid staff or physical shelter; we are all volunteers who dedicate our time to answering adoption inquiries, assisting adopters, arranging transportation from shelters, working with foster families, caring for foster animals, arranging vet care, educating the public, and running the organization all from our homes.
