The San Diego History Center is currently accepting applications for Docents. Docents form an essential part of the History Center's Education Department. By leading tours of museum exhibitions at both the Junipero Serra Museum at Presidio Park and the History Center in Balboa Park, they share the history of our region with visitors of all ages, including guests from around the world. They also make history come alive by facilitating interactive tours for school groups that spark students' imaginations and that stimulate their curiosity.
No prior experience is necessary but applicant must be open to public speaking, working with visitors of all age groups, and willing to learn and teach San Diego history, A 6 month training program is required. We encourage enthusiastic, reliable volunteers to apply and we ask that you are able to commit to at least 6 hours a month for tours and training.
