On Trac is a treatment based residential program designed to serve young males in Kalamazoo County who have a history with the court system. On Trac is looking for mentors who are willing to establish relationships with an assigned resident and continue to mentor them beyond their time in the program. Mentors would be matched with youth as they are preparing to transition home and begin meeting with the youth in the detention facility. Once they are released from the On Trac Program our mentors would continue to connect with them and assess and assist with their transition back into the community. We are looking for individuals who are at least 21 years old, are willing to undergo a criminal history background check and a drug test. We are also seeking individuals who are willing to make a committment of at least one year to the youth they are matched with.

Mission Statement
The vision for YOTP is that youth engaged with the court will overcome the cycle of family dysfunction, establish healthy law-abiding lifestyles, and engage in recovery opportunities.
Description
YOTP was developed in 2005 after juvenile justice practitioners and other professionals took notice that youth leaving Family Court supervision were reoffending and entering the adult system at high rates in Kalamazoo County. YOTP’s primary objective is to reach out to an underserved population of transitioning youth and assist them in meeting their goals in the areas of housing, wellness, education, and employment. This is achieved through the volunteer mentor matches, weekly group meetings, individual case management, providing a working office space for youth, and financial support for participant goals.
