Wildfires are devastating communities across California, causing more than 300,000 people to evacuate their homes and threatening many more. The Camp Fire in Northern California -- one of three blazing across the state -- is the most destructive in state history. We want to ensure that, if you are in an affected community, you find access to shelter. And if you are looking to help with disaster relief efforts, you know the most effective ways to contribute.
Unity Hospice and palliative care volunteers are friends who lend an ear, a hand, and their hearts.
Volunteers can do many things with the patient during their visit: puzzles, reading, watch a movie, hold their hand, play music for them, talk to them, or just be there with them so they aren't alone. Patient care volunteer opportunities are flexible! You go visit your patient when its convenient for you and your patient...days, nights, weekends too! The Volunteer Coordinator will be with you on your first visit and will always be a phone call away to support you as you make a difference in the life of a hospice patient.
We also have opportunity for volunteering in office: filing, answering phones, assisting in normal office duties. Hours for this volunteer are flexible as well, anytime between 8am-430pm Monday-Friday.
We are also in need of volunteers who can sew and assist us with our Precious Pillows program and encourage volunteers to participate in activities that we do with the community such as parades, bingo, community coffees, etc.
Please contact us for more details! We are excited to have you join our AMAZING Unity Hospice team!
