ORGANIZATION: San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
  • 30 people are interested

San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to helping provide safe, affordable housing to local families in need.

We depend on people of all skill levels to help at our sites, at our ReStores, behind-the-scenes and as fundraisers so we can continue to provide safe, decent and affordable homes.

New construction work for volunteers includes all phases of building beginning with the framing process. Work may include framing walls, installing doors/windows, painting, and more depending on the current phase of building.

Please contact us at volunteernow@sgvhabitat.org to see how you can make a difference!

Mission Statement

Families and individuals in your community in need of a hand up partner with San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. With our help, Habitat homeowners achieve the strength, stability, and independence they need to build a better life for themselves and their families. Through shelter, we empower. Description

Through volunteer labor and tax-deductible donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses with the help of the homeowner (partner) families. Habitat houses are sold to partner families at no profit and financed with affordable, no-interest loans. The homeowners' monthly mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that is used to build more houses. Habitat is not a give-away program. In addition to a 1% down payment and monthly mortgage payments, each homeowner family invests 500 hours of their own labor -- sweat-equity -- into the building of their house and the houses of others.
