VOLUNTEER JOB DESCRIPTION
Community Advocate - Event Representation
MAJOR OBJECTIVES
- The volunteer community advocate will work within his/her local community to promote MOCEANS and our mission by actively engaging community members and sharing news, information, and resources related to the Center.
- Support outreach activities by attending community events and represent MOCEANS by helping to staff a MOCEANS tent/table.
- Engage the public to help recruit new memebers for MOCEANS, distribute brochures and other material.
- Participate in events as appropriate and based on volunteer interest (runs/walks, etc), wearing MOCEANS branded shirts, etc and helping to publicize MOCEANS
QUALIFICATIONS
Live and/or work in Monmouth or Ocean County, NJ
Works well independently and as part of a team
Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills
Experience and/or interest in promoting the human and civil rights of people with disabilities
RESPONSIBILITIES
Be a positive and informed spokesperson for all people with disabilities
Consistently promote MOCEANS CIL and its mission serving as a champion of our cause
ORIENTATION/TRAINING
MOCEANS will provide both online and in-person training.
TIME AND PLACE
The volunteer community advocate will work at ciommunity events throughout Monmouth and Ocean County
