OUTLINE OF VOLUNTEER’S RESPONSIBILITIES: Event volunteers assist on the event day for set-up, guest assistance and registration or clean up. Volunteers may also choose to be involved in event planning.
SUPPORT PLAN: Event volunteers work under the direction of various members of the event committee, staff or other volunteers, who will provide task-specific
TIME COMMITMENT: Event day volunteers will typically be asked to commit at least 4 hours. Participation on an event planning committee typically requires larger time commitments over several months.
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED: Depends on tasks.
BENEFITS: Depending on the type of event, volunteers may be able to attend the event free of charge or at a reduced price. All LEGACY volunteers are invited to LEGACY events and parties, receive the LEGACY’s newsletter and receive credit in LEGACY’s Annual Report. Event volunteers also have the opportunity to learn new skills from professionals, meet others in the community, while supporting healthy urban/ youth programs.

Mission Statement
To teach urban youth how to handle the responsibilities of being an effective leader in church, family, school, community, and corporate by providing them with the resources and life skills needed to be a leader of today and well into the future.
Description
Leadership Empowerment Growth Achievement Comes from our Youth (LEGACY) whose mission is to address the problems of illiteracy, youth violence, and childhood obesity. LEGACY strives to eliminate barriers effecting today’s youth by providing mentorship, creativity development, training and supportive services that enables them to be outstanding leaders today and well into the future. Although LEGACY is not for all students, we provide resources for all students in which we serve. In addition, LEGACY is connected with several organizations, of which could be beneficial to those who are not a good fit for LEGACY and/or may require special attention.
We offer mentoring and tutoring programs that are designed to increase the student’s overall grades. We also offer an arts/theater program that allows our students to showcase their talents and broaden their experience in topics, such as, theater production. Our leadership program enables students to an understanding of the benefits of college and life after graduation as well as the importance of business etiquette. We provide school supplies to students as well as parental workshops. Our foundation is currently staffed by volunteers who commit their time to ensure that the programs offered are successful.
