About

PLACEMENT PURPOSE
The Disaster Action Team is charged with the initial response to most, if not all, disaster events that affect the Palmetto SC Region and its residents. The initial response could include providing immediate emergency assistance following a single-family fire/disaster, impact/disaster assessment, situational awareness gathering, canteening, setting up a shelter, or in many other tasks. On an average day Disaster Action Team Members respond to 6-8 disasters across the Palmetto SC Region providing emergency assistance to the impacted residents.

REQUIRED TRAINING

Required Completion Before Assignment:

New Volunteer Orientation/Disaster Services: An Overview (modules one and two)-Classroom

Disaster Action Team Fundamentals-Online

Local Disaster Action Team Induction/Orientation-Classroom

Casework and Recovery Planning Fundamentals-Online

Required Completion within Six Months:

Feeding Fundamentals-Online or Classroom

Disaster Assessment Fundamentals-Online or Classroom

Sheltering Fundamentals-Online or Classroom

Psychological First Aid-Classroom

Public Affairs Essentials-Online
