ORGANIZATION: SCORE NYC

POSITION: Human Resources Manager for 100-person Volunteer Organization

WORK SCHEDULE: Set your own hours; work from our headquarters in lower Manhattan or from home.

THE ORGANIZATION: SCORE, is a national business mentoring organization with 300+ offices and 11,000+ volunteers. It's mission is to provide FREE one-on-one confidential business counseling and affordable, skills-based workshops to small business owners and those wishing to start a business. SCORE NYC has five convenient offices located in Brooklyn, Bronx and Manhattan. Annually, it assists over 5,000 clients and conducts in excess of 8,000 client mentoring sessions

THE CHALLENGE: We are continually looking for new members who are at at or near to retirement. We seek a Human Resource professional who can help us grow our volunteer resources through proactive recruitment efforts. The professional will create and execute a plan to recruit business executives and senior managers and professionals as our front-line volunteer mentors.

THE OPPORTUNITY: To have a major impact on the growth of SCORE NYC and be the senior HR right hand to its Chairperson.

RESPONSIBILITIES: With the ability to schedule your SCORE commitment to your personal convenience:

■ Work with the Chair to establish the specifics of a recruitment plan;

■ Work with senior SCORE Mentors to leverage their contacts as recruitment tools;

■ Establish relationships with other senior HR executives to spread the word of SCORE’s need;

■ Devise and execute the optimum use of social media to achieve our recruitment goals;

■ Devise strategies to enlist the aid of executive recruiters and outplacement firms to achieve our recruitment goals;

■ Contribute to the strength and growth of SCORE New York through adding your management expertise to this totally volunteer organization.

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE:

• 5+ years experience working in the Human Resource field;

• Availability to volunteer for 10+ hours per month

• Willingness to participate in an orientation program (approx 40 hours - can be spread out over multiple weeks)

• Desire to give back to the business community and work with other professional volunteers

SCORE NYC is the NY metro area local chapter. We have five convenient offices located in Brooklyn, Bronx and Manhattan.

Annually, SCORE NYC assists over 5,000 clients and conducts in excess of 9,500 client mentoring sessions.It also provdes over 100 educational workshops on business topics.

SCORE NYC's volunteer team has a wide variety of industry experience including: retailing, manufacturing, technology , import-export, hospitality, communication, distribution, and nonprofits. We have expertise in business planning, strategy, finance, accounting, taxes, branding, marketing, customer development, public relations, e-commerce , legal, patents & trademarks, general management, and human resources.
