At this time, Hospice of the Chesapeake is seeking dedicated and compassionate volunteers to join our robust Healing Arts Program as Reiki Volunteers in Prince Georges County. Both already-trained Reiki practitioners who feel ready to provide Reiki to hospice patients and those who are not trained but are interested in learning Reiki are encouraged to inquire. For those volunteers who are not yet trained but are interested in joining our Healing Arts program, we make classes available to prepare our volunteers to provide this relaxing and healing service to our patients at the end-of-life.
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing. It is based on the idea that an unseen "life force energy" flows through us and is what causes us to be alive. If one's "life force energy" is low, then we are more likely to get sick or feel stress, and if it is high, we are more capable of being happy and healthy.

Hospice of the Chesapeake is a non-profit, community-based agency with locations in both Prince George's and Anne Arundel County. We have been providing quality services for over 30 years. We are licensed, accredited by the Joint Commission, and have been awarded the Maryland Association on Non-Profit Organization's Seal of Excellence for successfully completing the Standards for Excellence program. The award is based on commitment to excellence in governance, clinical service and financial management; a distinction earned by fewer than 5% of non-profit organizations in Maryland. The Maryland Association of Nonprofit Organizations representatives offered congratulations to Hospice of the Chesapeake for being "a true leader in your commitment to ethics and accountability in the nonprofit sector."
