WHEELS FOR MEALS BIKE RIDE PLANNING COMMITTEE MEMBERS

The 8th Annual Wheels for Meals Ride, a fundraising event benefiting Alameda County Meals on Wheels, enables local Meals on Wheels programs to deliver nutritious meals to and perform safety checks on 2,200 Alameda County seniors each delivery day. These services are in very high demand and are absolutely critical to preventing hunger, malnutrition and isolation.

The event will take place on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at Shadow Cliffs Park in Pleasanton. 1,200 new and seasoned cyclists will travel through the scenic Livermore Valley Wine Country. There are family friendly routes and challenges for avid cyclists looking for an end of season challenge (15, 35 and 70 miles). After the ride, eveyone comes together for a big party--hearty and delicious free barbecue lunch (with vegetarian & vegan options too) with lots of tasty treats and an expo with massages, live music and info/retail booths.

As a staff of two, we really need your help to make this huge and important event happen! This event brings in 1/4 of our entire annual budget. Consider a planning role performing any of the following responsibilities:

  • Day of Volunteers
  • Social Media/Communications
  • Marketing/Outreach/PR
  • Rider/Team Recruitment
  • Rider Fundraising Support
  • Volunteer Management
  • Finding Sponsorships
  • EXPO Coordination and Management
  • Corporate Engagement Day Of
  • Safety/Signage Manager
  • Rest Stop Coordinator
  • SPIN class Coordinator and Management

Cyclists and people with previous event planning experience are highly encouraged, but we're open to anyone with the heart and passion to support our senior neighbors (we'll help you to get there!). Commitment is about 4-6 hours a month through the Ride. Work is done from home with monthly in-person meetings starting in July.

This is a fun event that is much loved in the community, but we need your help to make it even better. Thank you in advance and welcome aboard!

In your reply, please indicate which area you're interested in helping with, if you have any previous event planning experiences, if you're a cyclist, etc.
