About

Our organization currently needs volunteers to walk dogs. In addition to walking the dogs, we would like the volunteers to socialize with them and play with them during their time away from their kennel. Interaction with people make our dogs happy and helps to socialize them making them more adoptable. We provide training on handling our animals. All volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Sometimes we have groups from schools volunteer, which must be accompanied by their teacher or chaperone.

We provide training.

We are also looking for someone to interact with our cats, and since we are in kitten season we definitely need foster parents.

Thank you, we look forward to having you on board!

Note: We are looking for volunteers within the 5 boroughs only.

You also will be trained on both Dog & Cat duties unless you are allergic. Training is about 3-4 hours and you must stay for the whole session.

New Beginning is the only No Kill Shelter in the Bronx. We receive no city funding so we are currently seeking dedicated volunteers to help keep this shelter running. We need Volunteers to walk dogs, socialize, and/or clean cat cages. We are also seeking volunteers to help with adoption events, such as bringing dogs and cats to PetSmart and/or Petco. Once you decide to become a volunteer, we ask that you dedicate a minimum of 10 hours per month to the shelter. This also applies to groups. The training lasts about an hour and a half and is done the second Saturday & Sunday of every month. Once you receive the training you are welcome to come in any day of the week. The shelter is open from 9am-6pm every day.
