The Kinship Caregiver Program provides monthly support groups for relatives raising children. The majority of our caregivers are grandparents raising their grandchildren due to unforeseen circumstances, such as death of the biological parents, addiction, incarceration, or mental illness.
During the evening support groups, we need childcare volunteers to lead games and crafts for youth ages 2-14. Our groups take place in a variety of locations around the Denver metro area. We are currently looking for childcare volunteers for the following groups:
- 1st Monday of every month, 5-7pm, Notre Dame Catholic Church, 5100 W Evans Ave, Denver, CO 80219.
- 3rd Wednesday of every month, 5:30-7:30pm, Swansea Rec Center, 2650 E 49th Ave, Denver, CO 80216. This group is for Spanish-speaking families. Most of the children are bilingual. In warmer months, a volunteer could help by leading/playing soccer in the large park next to the rec center.
- 3rd Monday of every month, 5-7pm, Risen Christ Catholic Parish, 3060 Monaco Pkwy, Denver, CO, 80222.
In regards to scheduling, we are flexible and do not require volunteers to attend all three groups each month. We are happy to work with you on a month-by-month basis to see when you are available.
We ask that new volunteers cover the cost of the state-required background check and fingerprints ($10-20).
