Safe Families for Children(tm) - Families Helping Families in Crisis

The goal of the SFFC ministry is to offer support, co-parenting, in a time of need and reunite children with their families in a stronger home environment. This temporary care for children in need gives parents time to establish stability in their homes. Parents voluntarily place their children with a Host Family because of any number of challenges they are facing, such as:

  • Sudden unemployment or loss of housing
  • Financial difficulties
  • Postpartum depression
  • Acute illness or hospitalization
  • Financial instability
  • Domestic violence
  • Drug or alcohol addiction
  • Incarceration of one parent

Safe Families for Children is not Foster Care or Adoption

Safe Families for Children is an alternative to foster care. In foster care, children are placed into homes through the courts and foster families receive compensation for their care. Through SFFC, parents voluntarily place their children in the care of a volunteer Host Family.

Become a Host Family

Hosting with Safe Families for Children is a very rewarding opportunity to be a part of a social movement and create a postiive impact in a child's life. When a family experiencing a crisis contacts Safe Families for Children, our Host Families who have already completed a background check, application, and a home visit, have the ability to volunteer to host a child in their home at whatever time they are available and able to. With assistance from Safe Families for Children, SFFC Family Friends, their church, and other Safe Families for Children volunteers, our Host Families are supported and encouraged throughout the hosting.
