ORGANIZATION: The Boulevard: The Road to Health and Home

Boulevard Logo
The Boulevard:The Road to Health and Home, was founded in 1994 and was originally called Interfaith House. Since then, it has provided a temporary home to over 8,000 Chicago women and men as they have regained their health and overcome homelessness.

Join the Associate Board of The Boulevard!

The Associate Board helps the organization in two main ways:(1) hosting fun, energetic social events for friends and colleagues, to help raise awareness and fundraising support; and (2) leveraging contacts and networking in fields like finance, marketing, fundraising, real estate/property management and the healthcare industry. Bringing new introductions and connections that might want to support The Boulevard is a really valuable way to help!

The Associate Board also volunteers at The Boulevard, by planning and serving meals. We sponsor quarterly "Share A Meals" at The Boulevard, where we put together a menu, make the meal and serve it to the residents.

Time Commitment: This group meets at least every other month, and plans events several times a year. Depending on the committee that you serve on and the position you hold, Associate Board members' time commitment is 1-2 hours per week.

Committees:

* Executive Committee = officers of the Associate Board, President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer.

* Membership Recruitment Committee = in charge of seeking out new board members.

* Marketing/Social Media Committee = in charge of spreading awareness of the Associate Board and building a social media presence.

All members are responsible for helping with programming and events, including: planning and coordinating fundraising events, determining locations, negotiating deals with venue, obtaining raffle prize donations, ane ensuring turnout at events.

The Boulevard is located in East Garfied Park, just south of Humboldt Park, at 3456 W Franklin Blvd, Chicago, IL 60624.

What We Do: The Boulevard serves over 300 homeless men and women annually, helping them recover from physical injury, illness, addiction or mental health issues. After they recover, we assist residents in finding safe housing and an income if possible: our goal is to help every client leave the homeless experience permanently.

Mission Statement

The Boulevard: The Road to Health and Home provides a healing environment and housing support services to help ill and injured adults experiencing homelessness restore their health, rebuild their lives and regain self-sufficiency. The Boulevard is a leader in medical respite care, and one of only a handful nationwide. Visit our website! http://www.blvd.org/

Description

The Boulevard is a medical respite program designed specifically to address the challenges faced by homeless adults often discharged from hospitals with no place to recuperate. We aid these individuals in completing their medical recovery and stabilization, begin to address the root causes of their homelessness, and find stable housing.
