Help rescued Cocker Spaniels by fosteriing them in your home. Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue (RMCR) will pay for all expenses and provide high quality dog food. RMCR is a 501(c)(3) charitable rescue that takes in Cocker Spaniels from kill shelters and people who can no longer keep their dogs. All Cocker Spaniels are placed in foster homes until they are adopted, and without fosters dogs cannot be rescued. Being a foster literally means saving lives, and Cocker Spaniels love seniors and teens! We are located in Colorado and serve all neighboring states. Email us at Inquiries@RockyMountainCockerRescue.org or give us a call at 303-617-1939. We would love to welcome you into the Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue family!

Mission Statement

Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue's mission is to rescue, foster and rehabilitate unwanted Cocker Spaniels and place them into permanent, pre-qualified homes.

Description

Rocky Mountain Cocker Rescue (RMCR) is the only licensed cocker rescue in Colorado and since starting in 2009, we have rescued more than 1,600 dogs. Our rescue dogs do not live in crates or kennels. They live in pre-approved foster homes which currently reside in Colorado, New Mexico, Kansas, Missouri, Arizona and Utah. RMCR is managed entirely by volunteers. No one receives any pay and more than five dedicated volunteers each donate an average of 120 hours every month - and have done so since 2013.

RMCR rescues cockers who have been abandoned, lost or posted on social media. We also pull dogs from animal shelters when the dog may need mental/physical rehabilitation or extensive medical care to help them become adoptable. A few also come from owners who can no longer care for their dog. Sadly, some lived in terrible, inhumane conditions, suffered neglect and/or faced euthanasia. We have never turned down a cocker who knocked on our door, asking to be saved.

All dogs are microchipped and spayed/neutered, immunized per the AAHA protocol and examined by licensed veterinarians. Many and most treatable conditions are resolved prior to adoption. Potential adopters are screened thoroughly, which includes a Home Safety check. Adoption fees vary to help defray in-home care and veterinarian costs. If the adopter(s) later find they are unable to properly care for the dog for any reason, they are required to return the dog to us.
