Thank you for your interest in Kindred Hospice. We would love to have you join our professional health care team serving as a Patient Volunteer.

*THERE ARE NO CURRENT TRAININGS SCHEDULED*

Come join our hospice team and contribute to enriching lives. We are seeking people with compassion, dedication, and a commitment to easing the end of life journey for patients and their families/caregivers. Training is provided. Be prepared for a rich experience where you will get back so much more than you give!

We are looking for people from diverse backgrounds, age 18 and over in Whitman and Latah counties. We are in special need of volunteers who can serve outlying communities such as Potlatch, Deary, Kendrick/Juliaetta, Palouse, Colfax, St. John and Garfield. A vehicle is required for this opportunity.

We cannot accommodate large group volunteer opportunities who wish to have patient care experience.

We strive to make your volunteer experience meaningful and flexible with your schedule.
Applicants should be available for one year after training.
Thank you!

Mission Statement

To improve quality of life for those we serve through the delivery of clinical excellence, extraordinary service, and compassionate care, while being recognized as the leader in home health and hospice services.

Description

Hospice Care is designed to give supportive care to people in the final phase of a terminal illness and focus on comfort and quality of life, rather than cure. The goal is to enable patients to be comfortable and free of pain, so that they live each day as fully as possible. Aggressive methods of pain control may be used. Hospice programs generally are home-based, but they sometimes provide services away from home -- in freestanding facilities, in nursing homes, or within hospitals. The philosophy of hospice is to provide support for the patient's emotional, social, and spiritual needs as well as medical symptoms as part of treating the whole person.
