About

Title: Web & Social Media Intern

Part Time : 20-30 hours/week

Time commitment : Fall/Winter Semesters

Starting Salary : unpaid, will offer college credit upon request

Location : Josephine Butler Parks Center, 2437 15th Street, NW (primary)

Occasional duties at the Riverside Center, 601 Division Avenue, NE

Main Responsibilities (Under the guidance of the Communications Coordinator):

  • Help manage, schedule and promote our social media accou nts.

  • Prepare and queue blog posts in coordination with our writers.

  • Administer comments, and proactively monitor and respond to online conversations around Parks & People and our mission.

  • Live social media coverage of various events/programs (some evening events required).


Required and Desired skills:

  • Experience using social media (particularly Facebook and Twitter).

  • Background and interest in digital communication.

  • Ability to work in a collaborative way with a small staff.

  • Must be able to multi-task, problem solve, thrive in a dynamic work environment, and enjoy working with a variety of people

  • Resourceful, flexible, and a self starter.

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

  • Passionate about the mission of Parks & People.
