Volunteering at the Mid-Ohio Valley Multi-Cultural Festival offers many new experiences and great networking opportunities. Have a chance to make new friends, learn a new skill, and have some fun! Become a part of our team and directly contribute to the success of this free, three day festival that promotes diversity and culture in the Mid-Ohio Valley.
Volunteers are the key to this great event! Even the Board of Directors is made up entirely of volunteers! Come join us at the festival by assisting attendees, exhibitors, and entertainers. You will walk away with a rewarding experience you will never forget.
Festival dates are June 17 th-19th . Shifts are generally in 2 hour increments, but you may sign up for more than one shift. Since most activities are outdoors, social distancing is possible. Only the children's activities in the Pavilion are inside. Outdoor performances are on the stage, except for those involving fire, which will be held in a roped-off area to allow some distance from observers.
Setup (June 16th & 17th)
Please note that setup often involves heavy lifting! Setup volunteers will assist staff with preparing for the event on the Friday prior to the start time of the Festival. Tasks include creating and placing signage (includes the use of tools), setting up registration areas, assisting in setting up vendor stations, placement of tables and chairs, etc.
Information Booth
Volunteers working in the information booth will assist with greeting and educating visitors about the organization’s mission, informing them of important locations and providing guests with schedules. Volunteers will be responsible for selling merchandise (t-shirts, tote bags, etc.), and providing security for the money collected.
Children’s Activities
Volunteers will help facilitate the kid’s programming and activities as needed and should enjoy working with children. Come prepared to have fun!
Cleanup (June 19th)
Volunteers are needed to take down signs, take down tents, clean up any garbage left behind, etc.

About Mid-Ohio Valley Multi-Cultural Festival
Location:
PO BOX 2050, Parkersburg City Park, PARKERSBURG, WV 26102, US
Mission Statement
The mission of the MOVMCF is to offer a free annual festival which encourages the appreciation and recognition of community diversity through entertainment, cuisine, education, and artistic expression of all cultures.
Description
The festival was founded in 1996 by Eugene Donaway, Bea Corra and a small group of citizens as a way to multi-cultural awareness in the Mid-Ohio Valley. Dedicated volunteers work tirelessly to secure funding, conduct research and engage culturally diverse performers, concessionaires, and vendors in order to provide a free, three-day, outdoor celebration of various cultures and nationalities. These efforts to enhance multi-cultural awareness and understanding have made a very positive impact on the quality of life in the Mid-Ohio Valley by opening lines of communication among diverse groups and providing a celebration of their diversity.
WV has a small minority population and, often, artists and entertainers must be solicited from larger metropolitan areas such as Columbus, Pittsburgh, and New York. These artists travel to WV, often staying overnight, bringing friends and family with them. The MOVMCF has increased tourism to the area and introduced WV to many people who may not otherwise have visited.
